Health Care Workers Thank Messiah’s Sewing Group

The Mustard Seeds Sewing group has made over a thousand masks during the Coronavirus pandemic! They have kept a continual supply available in our Little Library for anyone who needs one. Hundreds of masks and dozens of caps have gone to medical workers and others in the Lincoln community.

Kathy Carter and Wendy Rich, Mustard Seeds Coordinators, received the following letter from Heath Boddy, President and CEO of the Nebraska Health Care Association:

“Dear Messiah Mustard Seed Ministry:
Thank you for Messiah Lutheran Church’s role in the fight to protect Nebraskans from COVID-19, including those residing in nursing and assisted living facilities and those in hospice care. Your willingness to provide hand-sewn cloth masks through the talents of your Mustard Seed Ministry has played an important role in our strategy to protect those who are at greatest risk from the virus.

Here are just a handful of comments from Nebraska health care providers expressing gratitude:

‘We appreciate everything you are doing for all of us!!! It’s such a blessing to see how businesses and folks in the community have gone above and beyond to help those in need.’

‘Every day is a challenge. Those that reach out and help us are angels walking among us. We appreciate the masks, and we appreciate YOU! Thank you!’

‘We really appreciate and are so grateful and blessed for organizations and individuals like you! You are helping in the fight against COVID-19 and keeping this out of communities and keeping residents and employees safe and well.’

‘The safety and health of our residents and our staff are our number one priority, and this helps us facilitate that the best we can. It’s very much appreciated!!’

‘We have experienced great teamwork throughout our COVID-19 precautions and are  grateful for the support of so many in our healthcare community and beyond!’

Nebraskans have always been known to support each other in times of need. The pandemic has amplified that notion, as organizations like Messiah Lutheran Church stand up for our state’s most vulnerable. Thank you for your good work.

Thank you for your support! Truly Outstanding!

Sincerely, Heath G. Boddy”

Each child from the Preschool classes were able to come to Messiah to pick up an Easter Activity Bag. Parents drove up and picked up the bag while from a distance the Preschool Staff said hi and waved to the children in their vehicles. King Lake Flood Kitchen Restoration

King Lake residents, Ted and Mary,* are enjoying their recently reconstructed kitchen. Here, they’re sharing a meal with the men and women who helped bring their kitchen from a skeleton of studs to the finished product.

Some of the residents are opening up and working hard to help others successfully return to their homes. Mike is a resident of King Lake who has been able to return to his home. He helps distribute materials to various home projects with his pickup and BobCat.

Our weekly trips to help restore homes in the King Lake area have been suspended for now. However, we know that even through difficult times, God is working in the lives of the residents of King Lake!
