Home in A Box – 4 Years Later

Just over 4 years ago, a new ministry was started at Messiah.  Some members of the Messiah family felt called to increase our outreach to the community of Lincoln – specifically to serve the homeless population.
God led them to start the Home in a Box ministry, and they partnered with various other organizations in the area with the goal of helping people who were coming out of homelessness.  They wanted to provided furnishings for their new living spaces.

In 2019, Home in a Box has continued to grow, reaching more people than ever.  Between 50 and 60 deliveries were made this year, and the number of volunteers helping with this ministry is getting close to 100.

A new twist to the ministry began this year as Home in a Box volunteers now also provide meals.  Not only will recipients receive a home-cooked meal, they also keep the crockpot or casserole dish that it’s served in!  A few bags of groceries are given too, giving them a great start to their lives in their new homes.
Please pray for the people touched by this ministry, and reach out to us at Messiah if you’d like to get involved by preparing meals, delivering furnishings or donating items.
